“You bet your sweet bippy, that automobile is keen!”

1961 Chevrolet Corvette

The Corvette had some pretty big changes for 1961, though still using the same body from 1960. It had a revised front grille, and now had a Duck Tail rear end with four tail-lights. The exhaust now exited under the car instead of through the bumper ports. The new rear end idea was taken from Bill Mitchells Stingray racer and the experimental XP-700 car.

Corvettes came with a tachometer, seatbelts, sunvisors, dual exhaust, carpeting, electric clock, and an outside rearview mirror.

There were 10,939 Corvettes made in 1961 with a base price of $3,934.00. This 1961 Corvette Convertible project car comes in the ultra rare one year only color of Jewel Blue with Ermine White coves and a Jewel Blue interior. This Corvette is powered by a 283ci -270hp- eight cylinder engine with dual quads and a 4-speed transmission.

When finished, this car is going to bring the happy owner lots of pride in having a fairly rare Corvette to show off at car shows.
